A LOVE STORY ?

Recently, I went to see the movie, Eclipse, the 3rd. movie in the Twilight saga. It's a love story between, Bella and Edward. Bella is A human while Edward is a vampire. A love story?? Yes, but how could an odd couple fall in love? You always hear that opposites attract. Well needless to say loving a vampire would not be considered normal., Edward and Bella though they have some differences, they become a couple in love. In their relationship they make compromises, try to understand each other, and trust in one another. Doesn't this sound like the much needed aspects we need in a relationship? Let me share that Edward has no desire to kill anyone, as a "normal" vampire. A love triangle occurs, where Jacob,Bella's friend is in love with Bella. His issues, he can change into a werewolf. Bella loves Jacob, but not as deeply as she loves Edward. As the movie progresses, evil forces(bad werewolves) are after Bella and eventually will invade the local town. Although, Jacob and Edward are rivals, they put this aside to work together to protect Bella. If, in your mind you can eliminate the issue that Edward is a vampire and Jacob is a werewolf, then you can see this is a love story. In love, in the true sense, love means trying to understand each other, make compromises , patience, trust in one another, putting the other person before yourself, putting or willingness to put aside issues such as drugs, alcohol, being a blood sucking vampire. There has to be loyalty and less selfless by one other. All of these components are noted in this movie. If you go to see Eclipse, and can visualize that Edward and Jacob could be humans just like Bella you couldn't dismiss that it's a love story and not just viewed as a horror movie. There will be two sequels after Eclipse. I have to admit I hesitated to even see one of these movies, because I heard of vampires vs werewolves, but I got hooked on this love story. In a relationship, it's important for us to see beyond physical appearances and look at the personality, character of the person. What is your opinion of this situation, love story or horror movie?

  1. Hello Rose,
Always love it when you stop by. You have certainly given me a moment to think -
hollywood does come out with a number of angles on love stories. I think ultimately, you have the right idea about what it takes to love someone. I have young adult children, one getting married and one looking. I tell them them need to truly like the person and that love grows through experience and getting to know that person through every event, situation in life.
I deeply love my husband - choose to give my best to him and he does to me - we women have an ingrained desire for romance - I think that is approached through some 'love story' movies.
I read your story - bio - and reading what you write - you probably could have a lovely story written about you - what a joy to find love a second time - I am so happy for you!!!
Hope you have a Delightsome day,
    Kathy

  3. Last Saturday, my husband and I went to the movies (in a long, long time). He asked me if I wanted to see Eclipse, but not being a fun of horror movies, I told him I would rather see something about love. So we went to see an Italian movie called I AM LOVE. But now, after reading your post, I really want to see Eclipse. But who knows how soon we'll have a chance to go to the movies again.

  5. I read all the books a few years ago and really loved them and couldn't wait to see if the movies were as good. I liked the first one and this one the best. The second book/movie was OK, but now I'm looking forward to the last 2. I'm a bit old for this, but I love a good love story and if you don't take it too seriously it's good. I love the Sookie Stackhouse books too about vampires but the HBO series is too graphic. What's funny is the actors for Bella and Edward are a couple in real life, but then again it's a Hollywood romance and we know how long those last! I've been married to the greatest guy ever for 36yrs this summer and I wouldn't trade him for all the vampires or werewolves in the world!

  8. Well, Rose we're practically neighbors then. If you need directions just let me know. It's pretty simple to find though. Hope you survived the storms we had this evening. It got pretty nasty out here. Lots of lighting and rain. Thankfully the power never went out. Have a good night my friend.

  10. Hi Rose,
I haven't seen these movies (or read the books). I think you are right on about long term love.

Just wanted to say hello and I really like the look of the blog - bright and airy, cheery.

    Have a good one!

  11. Hi Rose! My daughter talked me into reading the first book, and I was hooked and read the rest of them back to back. To me it's good clean fun, especially for teens, and Bella is a strong young woman. A good role model. Plus it's nice to share an interest with my daughter!
I agree that in real life, there are lots of compromises. Love is never ever easy!
    Have a great day!

  13. I wasn't interested when the books came out so wasn't interested when the movies started coming out. I'm slowly rethinking that but would most likely start with the books. :)

  15. Rose, I appreciate your kind comments on my blog. I meant to comment to you yesterday after you told me about how you lost your first husband. Before I got a chance, in came my son and his girlfriend, and she broke the news that I blogged about today. Yes, the girl with cancer will almost certainly become my future daughter-in-law, so this really hits close to home.

I'm so glad I found your blog. I already look forward to your posts and comments. Thanks for being my blog friend. Oh, and I didn't realize that we both live in the same state! How cool is that! Take care now.

  21. Sounds like a love story to me, but I won't see it because I don't do horror stories, PERIOD! I did when young, but had way to many nightmares, and so won't put myself through that again. I used to love Dark Shadows (which was a TV Vampire series that also had some love stories in it... sort of a soap type thing.) My sister is still into all this Vampire Love story thing. She got hooked on one called Forever Knight that was the same kind of situation with a Vampire that didn't kill and was trying to "better himself." She's written several stories in this genre herself and is fairly well read in the online world of fiction writers.

You are right to say that this kind of "love story" is pretty true to life in that we do have to learn to live together and work through our differences to make things work.
