As a new babe blogger I'm still making mistakes so these are the pics I HAD WANTED TO ADD TO MY POST. The trees are in our yard, You can see one big oak is very close to the house. It's 100 years old and still alive. It's history with our house so we don't want to take it down. we have had limbs cut, hope God hears us and we want this Giant to stay put and not invade our house.
Yes, it is a beautiful tree, and I, too, hope that it lasts another 100 years. You have a wonderful place... So green! I love our place, but we are in the desert so there's not much green around at this time of year. :(
I just wanted to come by for a visit...finally! :)
Thank you so much for always leaving me such sweet comments.
Your pictures are great! I had an old live oak in my yard that was over 100 years old at our very first house. We loved that tree! I still think about it sometimes. It was huge and draped in spanish moss. I hope your tree last for a long time, too.
HI ROSE, THANKS FOR STOPPING BY. GREAT PICTURES, AND YOUR TREES ARE BEAUTIFUL. I AM FROM THE GARDEN STATE, NJ AND WE HAVE SO MANY NICE TREES TOO. HOPE YOUR TREE LAST ANOTHER 100 YEARS TOO. RIZZI
That is a HUGE and beautiful tree! I totally understand wanting to keep it but not wanting it to fall on your house! We had a scare a couple of years ago when most of Tulsa lost power during an ice storm due to tree breakage. Once the ice was gone we cut ours way back and chopped one down completely. Still find broken branches after every thunderstorm.
Good morning! Didn't see an email address, so responding here to your lovely comment about the soda bread. My son is a huge fan of the Dubliners, and wants desperately to open an Irish-style pub some day with all the traditional foods! Soda bread sounds so plain, but it is surprisingly addictive ... :)
That is indeed a wonderful old oak tree and I don't blame you for not wanting to cut it down. As you say, though, hopefully the roots won't find their way into your foundation!! We have mostly pine and spruce trees in our yard...we used to have 2 birch trees but cut those down years ago because of the roots. To me, a yard is not a yard unless you have trees in it:-) xoxo
Great pictures! You have a lovely place. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful tree I hope it lasts for another 100 years!

I love big old trees and those are some really beautiful ones!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Rose!
reminds me of the old adage, from a small acorn a mighty oak grows.
ReplyDeleteTrees are a lot of work and upkeep...but oh so beautiful.

ReplyDeleteI have some large trees in my yard here that I am so afraid are going to fall on my house should we get a hurricane.

ReplyDeleteThat's pretty awesome. What a unique piece of history literally at your doorstep (hopefully, never too literally).
ReplyDeleteCheers,
