THINGS HAPPEN
Recently, my husband went on a 2week trip to build a playhouse for our granddaughter in another state. I love my husband for his love and willingness to do this. I remained at home with the 5 dogs as my husband won't board them as well i had no house sitter. I, did have one human who was at my house while my husband was gone. This young lady was having her house remolded and initially it was to take a few days. Well, the house needed more work than expected so after a month and a half, I still had this friend. If you remember we have 5 dogs. My husband is good about bathing them in a child's swimming pool. The babies had a bath before their Da Da left on his trip. Well, two of our babies have curly hair which becomes a problem when they have to go No. 2, you know what I mean. Molly, the smallest goes nuts if she has boo boo on her bottom. Our own young children don't like this either. Molly will run around the yard as if someone has lite a match to her tail. She also has this awful sound. After getting bathed, molly was now a happy baby. Unfortunately, Missy, our oldest baby, had the same problem. Now Missy is medium size dog and very overweight. It was a hoot trying to put her in the bathtub. Had to give it up and wash her standing up on the bathroom carpet. Boy! it's hard to bathe some children as all they want to do is go outside. Mission accomplished. My hope is that my husband will be back for the next bath time. During my husband being away, I had a situation . You know that things happen. I accept that idea. Well, out of stupidity, I was doing something and crashed down on my kitchen floor, face down. My friend came and saw that i was bleeding . as i was getting ready to go to the emergency room, my friend went into a fetal position , yelling " I hurt,my stomach hurts with shooting pains". Here I was bleeding and now checking on my friend. Because I have a social worker-mental health background, I comforted my friend with soothing words and rubbing her back. Remember, I'm still bleeding from my nose. My friend was having a flashback re her deceased father and she (she is 24) has no family. I, got her calmed down and her pain disappeared, she was afraid she might lose someone else in her life. Thank goodness she got her composure. She drove to the E.R. and after time spent, I had fractured my nose. I purposely, didn't tell my husband about my injury until a day before he was to leave for home. I had a tough time keeping this injury from him for a week. Things happen. It was good that I had company at my house when this situation happened. For a full week I had two black eyes, as well as my cheeks were black and blue. I told someone I looked like a racoon. By the time, my husband came home,he thought I looked bad, this was nothing compared to the "look like a racoon phase". All is well except I now have a permanet "elevated knot" which is not noticable as my glasses cover this. Boy! was i glad to have my husband come home. Things happen. I was glad I could help my friend as her reaction might have come at a different time and with no one familiar with that reaction. I'm also glad my friend got her comprure and handled this situation. Out of a bad situation ,sometimes a positive can occur, even if I had a fractured nose. THINGS HAPPEN and we will have to decide to sit or take action.

The bathing of the dogs story is so funny. I can see it now. The story of you breaking your nose and your friend having an attack, not so funny. Glad you are OK even if you did look like a raccoon. And so happy your hubby is home.
ReplyDeleteFunny story about the baths. I have a dog too, so I can relate!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're OK! :)
Oh my gosh - you have been through the ringer this week.
ReplyDeleteThe dogs got their baths, but getting a broken nose and your friend having a panic attack had to be rough.
Glad your hubby is home and all is getting better.

Sorry about your situations, but, it is kind of humorous. I'm glad you were able to handle things till hubby got home!
ReplyDeleteYou had your hands full for sure this past week! thank you so much for dog sitting while grampie built an AWESOME playhouse. You two- are the best grandparents a baby could have:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like your friend was lucky you were there for her! Now you have an "interesting" profile! Glad the only thing you broke was your nose..no ankles, hips, shoulders...can you tell I work in surgery? I don't know if a ladder was involved but my mantra is: "Ladders are evil"..very few good things happen when you climb down them!
ReplyDeleteYou are a better woman than I am Rose! I would had called my husband to come home and take care of me. I sure hope you don't ever have another week like that week! Hope you have a speedy recovery too!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Angela
Oh my goodness...you just cannot be left alone! Hope you are 100%.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Rose, I'm so sorry you hurt your nose. I have only bumped mine in the past and I know how much that hurts. Can't imagine how painful a fractured nose would be. :(
ReplyDeleteAs for the dog baths - yikes, I know how difficult that can be. Recently I noticed that the laundry mat in our town is now advertising that they have a "do-it-yourself" dog grooming area. I can't wait to check it out and see what it's like. I'm hoping they have a good set-up and that it is reasonably priced because washing my dogs in the winter time is near impossible!
Anyway, I hope you are better soon and that your black eyes disappear quickly!
Oh how terrible...painful and dangerous too! I hope you recover quickly from the fall!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you!
Coralie
Here's a P.S. Rose: Glad no ladder was involved! RE dog baths..we used to have our faithful wonder Dog Ferris who loved to jump in my In-laws pond...couldn't keep him out of the water..came home smelling like frogs..but when he would see bath time coming, would stand and shake like he was going to get murdered! Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh my..I'm glad you are okay, except for your nose. You had a lot on your plate while your husband was gone. I'm so glad our beagle didn't mind the bath. We use to bath her and put a big blanket on the kitchen floor and she would roll around on it until she dried.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comment on my blog...yes, life without memories would be very empty.
ReplyDeleteYour post suddenly made my life seem normal. You are a brave soul to write of your mishaps. When I have these (had one on the way home from our trip), instead of a panic attack, I end up laughing. People would just not understand....
I know you are happy to have your husband back home:-)
Hi Ms Rose hope you are alright. Like you said things happen. and the not so great day was it happened when you husband was away. It's really important you know someone closeby or have someone with you just in case of whatever things happen, you have someone to call. Hope your housemate is alright too.Glad your husband is back now, he can give bath to your 5 children. wow five dogs thats a lot of active children to watch everyday. Thanks for the visit and comments btw, take care.
ReplyDeleteYou have really had a time lately, haven't you? Glad you are fine now and glad hubby is home. He needs to take you out for a wonderful steak dinner! Would love to see pictures of the playhouse he built!
ReplyDeleteOh my, sometimes everything happens at once as like in your situation. Anywhere there is injury to the head it bleeds profusely,,,but I bet it hurt, plus the shock. Glad hubby is now home once more to support and love you..Bless you
ReplyDeleteOops. Cracking ones nose and ending up with black eyes is one of those things that sounds funny but isn't.
ReplyDeleteRose you are one strong woman! I am amazed how your background kicked in and you helped your friend first. My doc specializes in those nasty broken noses. His work is exquisite. I hope all is well with you. Please kepe me in the loop, I appreciate your comments so much and I enjoy visiting. I am trying to catch up with everyone. These past 3 weeks have been awful driving back and forth to our hometown in regard to my late MIL. But we do what we have to do and now we are trying to get back into the swing of things. I appreciate all the prayers and I am keeping you in mine. I hope you don't have any more problems.
ReplyDeleteThe bath time story was darn cute though! Hugs Anne
Oh my goodness, aren't you a wonderful person to be able to comfort someone else, while you're lying on the floor in pain! I'm sorry you fractured your nose, but it sounds like you're recovering nicely. I bet your husband will think twice next time about leaving you at home!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!
Carol
Rose you poor thing. You sound like you have had a big plate full. I hope this week is much better. Sending you a big hug my friend.
ReplyDeleteIt's true, things happen. But my goodness, you had a rough week. Glad you're healing well and your husband is home. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh Rose, you have been a very busy girl and mama. You are so right about "things happen." I think I would also add, when it rains, it pours. It's brought a chuckle to me tho. Char
ReplyDeleteI have an award for you on my blog. sandie
ReplyDeleteYou do have a great outlook with your nose...Yes things happen. Good to have husband home also.
ReplyDeleteOh Rose I'm so sorry you got hurt! This post shows exactly the kind of person you are! You put others before yourself...even when you are injured!
ReplyDeleteOH HOW SAD, I AM SO SORRY YOU GOT HURT. HOPE YOU RECOVER SOON. TAKE CARE. RIZZI
ReplyDeleteYikes, what a week... and ouch!
ReplyDeleteThis was a wonderful post... Yes, "Stuff" does happen and you handled it just right. You didn't panic even though the situation was very hard, and you helped your friend see that in your life, so you modeled a good way to handle stress, too. You should be proud of yourself for putting in the week that you did. I'm sure you not only "looked" bad, but were sore, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's the way we have to handle the rough times... One step at a time and just "Get R done..." (and I add praying in there, too!:)
