HATS
Is there something that you do that just makes you feel unlike yourself? Mine is trying on Hats. Growing up in a Catholic church, we had to wear hats to church. This now has changed. I, remember going to church on Easter Sunday with my hat. Usually it was white with light colored flowers. I had a lot of hats, but now this part of my childhood is gone. I do have a few hats, but not as much as I had when I was younger. One of the "funniest things" I enjoy doing is to try on hats.I will do this in department stores, clothing stores, antique shops (they are my favorite), and anywhere they have hats. When I try on a hat, I become a little girl acting giddy, making faces, and sounds that might fit the style of the hat. I, have to admit,I won't do this alone as I would be considered "nuts", and it's more fun doing this with a friend. When I'm feeling blue, this uplifts my spirits. Is there an activity that seems to call to you and that child in you suddenly appears? Being an adult doesn't mean we have to stay straight. This activity often helps me when my spirits are low, it's OK to laugh at ourselves.

Rose how fun you are!! I love hats also and like to try them on.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Great post... THere is a place here you would like to try on hats...it is called Gov't house...and it is very Victorian. THey have a gift shop with some very Victorian style hats in it...I am sure you would love them....I even did..and I don't wear hats! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post. I love hats. I recently went to a luncheon where everyone was asked to wear a hat and I had the most fun making a "Kentucky Derby" style hat that was over the top. Do what makes you happy Rose!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like to try them on too - but love you in the pink veiled one! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHey Rose! You look adorable, posing in the various hats!! I love to be silly like that, too! I think hats are so neat, but I think I look awful in them. I think it's partly because I'm so short and I have a small head! Honest! I wish I looked good in them...that's why I like to try them on and pose, just like you!! It's great to find something that cheers you up, and it doesn't even cost anything! :)
ReplyDeleteI posted and then it was gone! Oh well, try again!
ReplyDeleteLove the hats!
You look good in hats (I don't). sandie
ReplyDeleteThose are some great photos Rose! Love them...I like to color in barbie coloring books...makes me feel like a kid again and its a great stress releaver. Keep trying on them hats girl!
ReplyDeleteI love hats and when I was a teenager I would go with my bff and try on hats and we'd laugh ourselves silly!
ReplyDeleteI do love hats but look terrible in them!!! My head must be too small or something but I always look like a dufus in a hat, unlike you! There is a book published a few years back about black ladies and the wonderful hats they wear to church. Can't remember the name of it but it's a wonderful book if you love hats.
ReplyDeleteI love this post Rose...you are so cute.
ReplyDeleteFun fun fun.
Fun post and fun pictures! On the first one, you kind of look like my aunt from Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bunch of hats. Even older children like to play dress up. tee hee.
ReplyDeleteHats are fun. I especially like the first and last ones on you, though I'm not sure about the dead animal.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
xoRobyn
You definitely fit in with the Atlanta bloggers as Sue and I love to put on hats and take photos. Rose usually runs away from us especially when we put on the masks in Ikea one day:-) I remember wearing a hat to Mass and was so excited when Jackie Kennedy wore a mantilla in the 70s and I had one in white and black. Always had a new Easter hat and a new one for the winter months. A few years ago I was up at Saratoga Race Track and wore a big hat and it was fun. I remember wearing white gloves to Mass too. Now people go to church in jeans and tee shirts but at least they attend. One day when we meet at a GA blog lunch I need to tell you about the young people in church in Poland today. Very religious and they do dress.

ReplyDeleteAGREE~ being a grown up does not mean we have to stay straight!
Hi Rose!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first blog I visited this morning and you started my day with a chuckle! I love this post. So much fun!
It's too bad that for the most part people no longer dress up for special occasions like they used to. Rabbits-1 Flemish giant, 1 netherland dwarf, 1 holland lop, 7 french angoras, 12 satins angoras. We show in ARBA shows. All the babies are spoken for by people that want them for show. I only breed one or two litters a year.
ReplyDeleteLove hats. This post makes me smile. I just passed an award to you called the Sunshine Award. You can see it here:

This was a delightful post, Rose! I think maybe reading (especially read aloud children's books) or walking through tall grass on a spring day. Those things take me back!
ReplyDeleteI have a few photos of my grandma with some real big hats on and I remember my mom having more conservative hats in the 1960's. It was always fun to try them on and dance around in front of the mirror.
ReplyDeleteHi Rose!
ReplyDeleteOh you look so cute in your hats! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog...did you see my previous post on the Sun Hats I made and the Lemon Bars?? So funny that I had just posted on hats, you visited me and then I saw your Hat post:)

Oh I love the old hats from the 40's and 50's. I can't seem to pass them up when I see them at yardsales, I love the mesh vales and big flowers. I have a huge box in the attic filled with them and church gloves of every color under the rainbow. My 4 year old daughter will love them when she's older and I'll be happy to try them on right along with her :)
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, my name is Kathy. I just found your blog today. I'm always looking for new blog friends who are close in age to myself.(I'm 55)I read a few of your posts, and loved them. I love crochet, and I love animals, so I loved both of those posts! Looking forward to reading more posts to "catch up", and new posts as I become a follower.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love hats too! Although I have to tell you, this past Easter a guest arrived at our church wearing a hat that was absolutely HUMUNGOUS!!! Seriously, it was so wide that her husband couldn't sit up close to her and the church was packed but nobody could squish in beside her because her hat was wider than her shoulders! And it had GINORMOUS feathers all over it so the person sitting behind her couldn't see anything during the whole sermon!!! And whenever she moved, the feathers would quiver!!! Honestly, I had such a hard time not getting a fit of the giggles. It was just too funny!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Rose - thanks for stopping by today! Love all the pictures of you in hats!! :>)
ReplyDeleteHi Rose! I too feel a bit weird wearing hats. But sometimes I do wear baseball hats outdoors in the Texas summer heat.
ReplyDeleteTo stay young, I like to sing and dance with my kids! I love to hear them laugh!!!
I love your attitude on life! My friends and I have dress up nights where we put on our finest and get together for dinner at a very casual restaurant. It a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteI love hats too but I am more on the cap than girly hats. Those are cute hats. Thanks for sharing this wonderful story.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great post and showed so much more of your personality to us... You always do, but this is a fun side to see. It is fun to try on hats. I haven't done it for years, but I remember doing it and having fun with it. Mama always made sure we had our little hats on for at least Easter Sunday, and I loved the little hats that she would make for us with the pretty flowers.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite way of having fun is doing something with the corgis, and then watching THEM have fun. They always make me laugh!
