IS THIS SPRING?

In the last two days, I have been preoccupied and haven't been able to devote more time to my blog as well as read and respond to comments left on my blog. Is this August? Well, why am I Spring Cleaning? My sister, said " Aren't you a little behind in months to Spring Clean"? Have you ever did something that made no sense and then decided to go forward to address the issue? As much, I loved my Mother, you won't catch me at 4 a.m. cleaning the house. The word of today is PROCRASTINATION.. PROCRASTINATION, according to Roget's Thesaurus, means to hesitate, a play for time, stall, slackness. So why do we PROCRASTINATE ? We PROCRASTINATE for different reasons;to delay to make a better decision about an issue, laziness, fear, anger ex. husband pushing wife to clean up the kitchen, and changing priorities. Is PROCRASTINATION GOOD or BAD? It could both,if we have to make a decision that will affect others ex. relocating to another city. This would be a decision that isn't taken lightly. To delay paying a bill, which could affect you having or not having electricity. Let's procrastinate and we our out of clean underwear. When traveling, we might delay making arrangements in order to find the less expensive air fare. So, why am I spring cleaning in August? I, know that I've seen this issue to be less important than other issues. I, also know that I go NUTS and won't stop and will do more than I planned. My house is 2400 sq. feet. The size requires me to pull out more cleaning products, rags, mop as well as a bunch of other items. Getting older, as much as I try to keep things together there's the problem ,did the mop run off with the broom? I thought I put the furniture polish over there. Where is the furniture polish? So far, I've been working for two days, and still have plenty of housekeeping to do.It's tempting to give up. Can I, just take one day off and will I go back "on track"? I, remember I had a saying,"I'll move so I won't have to SPRING CLEAN". This is my 5Th. house that I have bought and occupied in my hometown. No, I'm not planning to move unless it's to Texas to be near our granddaughter and her parents. I, have put photos with this post. Note, the dogs in the kitchen, no table, it's getting refinished.Oh! I forgot, is anyone interested in pantie hose? My husband has said on a no. of occasions" you buy things that you already have". Back to the pantie hose, note the Great selection , I think I have over 20 pairs of hose. I lost track, and pantie hose is important. So the pantie hose shop is open for business. I, think,I'll stop buying hose. This might be another reason to Spring Clean so I will not forget what items I have in "bulk". Time soon to "hit the hay" another day tomorrow to continue my quest. As you are reading this post, what issue do you tend to PROCRASTINATE? Will try to read some posts on other blogs, if I'm not dead or have fallen asleep in the closet I'm cleaning

  1. Good morning!

I procrastinate over school work. Most of the time, I think its related to fatigue and the need for a long break. Good luck with your cleaning. I'll be joining you in "spring" cleaning here very soon!

  3. First of all you home is lovely.

I think as in all things procrastination isn't bad or good - it is how often and what happens.

I think there is a time to procrastinate and a time not too.

Sometimes though you do have to stop and smell the roses.

You know what I mean Rose?

Sitting at the computer, smiling at your post while watching the clock telling myself that I'd better get moving! Procrastinate is my middle name..it was suppose to be the first name but Mom put it off..another story for another day because I really need to get going! Have a great cleaning time..if you get bored just head over to my house and start in there!

  6. Oh Rose, great minds think alike! I looked around at my house and how I've let things go for a while...Yesterday I began my spring cleaning, too! I'm about to start back again today, but at a slower pace...I am tired! Happy cleaning, friend!

  9. I used to work with a male nurse and he welcomed us every day by calling us all "Hey you Slackers" and he sat around all night reading gun magazines! I put off errands outside the house and I do not like to clean floors but love to wash dishes. Weird. Yes? hugs♥olive

  10. Well, this is a funny and enjoyable post that I think we all can relate to. I hope you don't fall asleep in the closet with the door shut! I just got the house cleaned last week, but only because we were having company. I'd probably never get it all cleaned all at once if we didn't get company! You are right, one added benefit is that we can find things we've lost and things we don't remember we ever got! My husband use to procrastinate much more than he does now. But you are right that many times when we put something off, it can turn out to be a good thing.

  12. Mr. Skittles is HUGE at procrastinating. He has so many other wonderful things about him though that I don't nag. I make a list of a few Honey Dos on a dry erase board and walk away. He'll get them done by looking at the list. Much better than the nagging.

I missed my spring cleaning this year, but since we moved in less than a year ago there wasn't much to sort through and/or throw out. If I just keep up on the weekly cleaning then things are under control.

  13. I haven't had the energy or the will to do anything lately. Guess it's partly due to the heat and partly due to the grandkids being here so much...no use to pick up after them when they are coming back the next day! I get into "housecleaning moods" and then go hog wild. In between those moods...well, that's another matter!

  14. I love this post! It is not only timely, but it is very well written. I put off cleaning my room and bath for over a week, then went into high gear at 10 PM last night to get the job done! This after a really hard day at work. Why do we put things off? Who knows? I'm blaming it on the heat.

I was going through my poetry blog and came upon you comment on my poem about Father's Day. Have you written any poems? If you have, I would love to read them! Will you send me a link or email them to me?

    Thanks..........cj

  19. I love the pic with the animals and the chairs...have been doing some housecleaning this week myself. No A/c and is 100+ so I am taking my time when it comes to floors. Good luck with the rest of the house!

  20. I have been so busy trying to catch up on projects that it is hard to get on the computer and blog! I know once winter sets in, I will be able to spend more time on my posts again, but for now, there is just too many other things calling at me every day:)

  21. I am really good at procrastinating. I am currently trying to clean out my room that is more like a storage shed. Very slow go. My goal is to get it all cleaned out so I can (we can)put down a new floor.

All this work plus general everyday stuff makes it look like I am procrastinating at my blogging duties. Well it has to be honest.

    Good luck with the house!

  22. Oh wow, looks like lots of things are going on in your home right now. I love the picture of your *babies*, they are so cute. It's funny about the pantyhose, I thought it was only me, I have a stock of them too ;-)

  23. While you are in the mood, come on over. I have plenty cleaning and could use your help. Just take one dy at a time and do what you can. It really won;t matter 100 years from now.

  24. No matter the time of year good on you for your stick-to-it-tive-ness.. I am behind years on my spring cleaning..

  25. Ha... Too funny! I had thought about it before, but Yes, I believe I do this because by the time I go upstairs, downstairs or in the next room I forget 'why' I went in there. Then of course I too forget where I put the cleaning stuff. Ugh... This why I now have at least 5 screen tools, 5 wood floor mop covers, 20 bottles of cleaner, etc. Because I can't find anything when I decide I need it, so I go buy more. LOL So glad I am not alone in 'spring cleaning' in August and usually January because that's the only way I can make room for the Christmas clearance. :-)

    Cute post, Rose!
Have a Wonderful Weekend cleaning! :-)
    Hugs,
    Coreen

  26. Hi Rose, When you finish CLEANING your house, please come and clean mine. It's getting desperate!!!! I can ignore it sometimes---but recently---it's bothering me. We don't clutter --so that helps. BUT--we need to do basic things like vacuum and dust... ha (Talk about procrastination!!!!) I will work in the yard all day long ---but HATE cleaning the house!!! Oh Well!!!! Maybe you will inspire me!!!!

Overall, I am not a procrastinator though... I'm pretty organized --and when I was working fulltime, I worked with LISTS constantly... BUT--cleaning the house is not my thing!!!!

    SO--when are you coming????
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  27. Love your post and can so relate to it! I think my spring cleaning will be fall cleaning since I'm still procrastinating about that! And I keep procrastinating about other things I should be doing as I visit blogs like yours to read the delightful things people say! Good luck with your cleaning!

  28. Hi Rose!

Procrastination? Me? Never! Okay, that was a big fat lie! My procrastination seems to have hit an all time high lately! I need a good swift kick in the tush to get me back on track!

  29. Procrastination. Yep. I think we are all guilty of that...sometimes at least. I've discovered that I work better and do what I'm supposed to do when someone expects me to do it and holds me accountable but if no one does the deadline itself makes me do what I must. Imminence finally defeats procrastination.

  30. Look at those fur babies in the kitchen! Love it! I am so good at procrastinating! If only it were a subject. Spring cleaning in August sounds like a perfectly acceptable thing to do to me though. I love the feeling of accomplishment when I really clean the crap out of my house! Well done Rose!
