Nature Bounties
My husband and I are "early birds". We usually get up by 7a.m. this is probable crazy since we have been retired for years. At our house, we are surrounded by 4 acres. I, love it in the morning. There are so many sights and sounds of nature. Early in the morning, it sounds like an orchestra is preforming. I, usually don't see the crickets, but the sound is overwhelming. I, always wonder what those critters are saying or singing. Are they telling us we" need to get up and enjoy God's earth "or are they saying" don't bother us , go away." I wonder how many crickets occupy our property. It's got be millions based upon the loudness of their sound. Magically, this sound disappears with the light of the day becoming more noticeable. When we moved into this home over 5 years ago, I thought we didn't have any squirrels but given time I was mistaken. It's amazing how squirrels can act like a circus performer, running, jumping among the trees. They have great speed but can't always make up their mind. Do I go left, do I go right,do I move at all. Well, if you can recall we have 5 dogs(our Babies), and they are determined to conquer and take the squirrels to their deaths. It's funny watching our babies thinking they can jump up a tree that over 12 ft. high. Oh! let's add the charming sounds of the "babies" to the early morning hours as well as day and night. Our "babies" don't give up this battle. I think I witnessed only one capture seeing my youngest baby Micki, running across the yard with his enemy in his mouth. Naturally, his parents yelling to Micki"drop that, Come here". Micki, isn't the best well behaved child, if you can, "get my drift". As the heat and summer are at odds with each other, the beautiful flowers are dying. Let's hope they grace us with their beauty next year. Lo and behold, we still have some sunflowers smiling to us and could be saying"catch our beauty, we are slowly dying".Years ago, we planted a butterfly bush. WE cut this bush back and this amazing bush grew much taller. The sight of butterflies enjoying this bush ,flying from one frail limb to another. Butterflies of different sizes and colors have no hesitation to flutter about no matter who is present. This morning, I hear birds chirping and flying. Well,I need to go into the kitchen to do the dishes. As I am leaving nature's bounty, I can't imagine life would be so empty without God's gifts. There's a saying "smell the roses". We need to do this and not take life and nature for granted.

Hi Rose, What a lovely home, flowers and butterflies. We get up early too. It sounds like you are blessed with beautiful surroundings. I always feel closer to God in the garden! Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteI am glad I founds someone else that enjoys peace and quiet. However, I am not a morning person. If I could move myself, that is really the best time of the day. I am glad we found each others blogs. I do enjoy yours and your visits. Thanks for becoming one of my followers. I will do the same for you. Take care.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds so peaceful there with the crickets and butterflies.
ReplyDeleteI think morning is the best..."early to bed, early to rise"...I'm hoping the healthy, wealthy and wise part is true! Your place is lovely so enjoy all those wonderful nature gifts!
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, What a gorgeous blog.... Thanks for coming and wishing me a Happy Birthday...My hubby did a fabulous job of surprising me with a fantastic trip this year. You'll have to come back to my blog to hear all about what this wonderful man did for me!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for visiting. I envy anyone who lives on 4 acres.... WOW!!!!! Those 'nature sounds' early in the morning are fabulous, aren't they?
Hugs,
Betsy

Hi Rose ... I'm like you ~ enjoy the early morning sounds while sitting out on my deck. It's true... the early bird gets the worm. Those who sleep late are missing out.
ReplyDeleteI am catching up at reading blogs today and love the sounds of the sounds of early morning with birds singing. Love the purple butterfly bush and enjoy watching the butterflies. I had lots of those when I was living in CA. Read about your nose incident...ouch! Love the playhouse for the grands. I bet they are thrilled!

Although I do remember morning sounds back when my kids were little and I had to get up early, I think basically I'm more of a night owl. LOVE your place!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! God has given us so much beauty to enjoy, and not just visual beauty, but the sounds too. I enjoyed the pictures too!
ReplyDeleteFirst time here!
ReplyDeleteLoved the butterflies...my little girl is determined to catch one this summer.
Hi Rose...what a lovely post...and your home is so pretty. I read your last post and it was beautiful about your mom and her cat...I was talking to my daughter today about the dogs we have had over the years and I mentioned one dog who was my favorite and I started to cry and she started to cry...I miss that dog so much. I can just think about him and I start bawling....I told daughter I'm emotional I have to start taking my hormones again....LOL.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post and beautiful pictures. I had to click on your butterfly bush picture so I could see it up close and it was just gorgeous! I laughed when I read about your babies chasing squirrels - our dogs love to do that too and they are so annoyed when they can't figure out how to climb the trees to follow them. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, the morning is the best time of the day. I love watching the birds and squirrels jumping about.
ReplyDeleteMy "babies" are too fat and lazy to do much squirrel chasing any more, but last week one of them dragged up a skunk of all things! We have a hound, a terrier, and a lab, so they are always dragging up something dead--usually it's armadillos though.
I love your place. It reminds me of our place. The family farm is 30 acres. Five families live on the farm--Ed's mom & our youngest son, Ed's brother and his wife, Ed and me, and our two married children & families. It sure has been sad since Ed's mom hasn't been here. It won't be the same without her.
Thanks for your comments. I always look forward to your visits :) (Kathy)
Ah, yes, it's always here for us to enjoy. Thanks for the lovely reminder, Rose.

Thank you for giving me this wonderful visual of country living. How wonderful it must be to live on such a huge lot of land. But you seem to appreciate the gift you've been given - the sunlight, the crickets, the squirrels, even the flowers and the tug of war they're having with the summer and the heat. Even enjoying and scolding your babies/dogs these hot summer days. I enjoy reading this entire blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post, and we really do need to take time to "smell the roses"!
ReplyDeleteYou have a very spacious place. I wonder how many critters you will see everyday roaming around your large yard. It looks peaceful and quite. You have a very nice place Ms. Rose and big house as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Rose! Iggy wrote a similar post on his Intense Guy blog. Stop and smell the roses. I think the world would be a better place if most did this. I am listening to the crickets outside my window now. They sound like a full orchestra. I bet you place is beautiful. Thanks for sharing and happy week to you! Anne
ReplyDeleteI'm an early riser but not by choice! If I don't get up at 5.30am on weekdays I simply don't have enough time in the day to do everything.
ReplyDeleteI love the mornings too....this morning the geese were all over the yard....I put a picture on blog.
ReplyDeleteThen Trixie treed a squirrell and they sat and looked at each other for the longest time/ha
Then I saw 5 deer at the pond...
It was a great day...I do love nature!!!
I am so sorry, I just found you on my Day to Day blog. I loved your newsy entry. We have one baby and that is our beagle Spunky. I am 80 and my husband is 7 years younger. He is my 3rd marriage. I was widowed at 37 and he and I met and filled a deep void in each others life. I do hope you will forgive me for taking so long to respond. I do have another blog I write in more regularly. It is http://whatisleftofawholenewlife-Lucy-blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHI ROSE,
ReplyDeleteI KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN, MY DAUGHTER HAS A BUTTERFLY GARDEN
AND THERE ARE BUTTERFLIES ALL OVER THE PLACE, FROM ONE BUSH TO ANOTHER. THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL.
I've never heard of a butterfly bush before... that sounds just beautiful. Personally I love mornings - especially walking in the mornings and enjoying nature. Haven't been on one for awhile -- thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteIt all sounds so lovely, I actually caught the sunrise this morning for the first time in a long time. I am more of an evening person.
ReplyDeleteI'm goinr to have to look into this Butterfly bush, never heard of it.
My dogs do the samething with the squirrels, until it gets out of range or till I yell at them to knock it off!
Maybe I do not have enough storage space, or is it that I have too much to store? Which ever, I often find myself knee deep in projects that I am working on , was working on, and projects that I will be working on. I do not have a particular space to work except the kitchen table so there is constant movement to drag material out and then clear the table so we can eat. A dream of mine is to have a little space all my own.
ReplyDelete4 acres to surround you sounds winderful.
